2023 was the year when LiGnux became better for gaming at least in FPS (before the GNU/Linux desktop year, who would have guessed), but still there is a lot of market share to grow to, including future ARM laptops.
If you are a gamer, 2023 was the handheld year, and when gamers realized that GNU/Linux (or LiGnux because Android and Chrome OS are non GNU Linux) is better for gaming, even MS Windows games.
Benchmarks show Linux runs Windows games faster than Windows

BUT, and it is a big BUT, despite a lot of people using the Steam Deck there is not detected yet a migration to LiGnux on their desktop gaming PC.
I think that Steam should make
- A Steam Controller 2 with the Steam Deck layout,
(that I think will be sold as hot bread, for PC and for handhelds when plugged to a TV).
- A Steam OS ISO,
(compatible with Ventoy, and easy to doble boot, and to be installed as MS WSL - inside windows -)
- A Steam Machine (desktop) with a similar price and similar performance than the PS5 or better with Steam OS, and Steam Controller 2 .
- A Steam client for ARM LiGnux
- A TV version of Steam OS (ARM) with KDE Plasma bigscreen (and perhaps powerful ARM SoC capable of good gaming)
- An android games solution for the X86 (and ARM) Steam client, on MS WOS and Steam OS LiGnux - meaning to be able to purchase and install android games on the Steam client as we already do with MS directx ones -
- A Steam client for Android, with android and proton games.
- And ... A Steam client for MS WOS, that would install Steam OS on MS WSL and run from a link on the MS Windows desktop
And that will increase, and a lot the LiGnux desktop use, and of course its gaming use, as it is better.
And it will even better as if its market share grows native games will be offered and installed, and will perform better than MS WOS games via proton.
BUT unfortunately, the grow of Free and Open Source Operating Systems Small Office and HOme use depends almost only of Steam instead of youtubers, influencers, and gamers realizing that LiGnux is better for them.
Last but not least, it seems that Qualcomm is going to release great SoC for laptops and MS Windows. I hope they or some OEM will realize that LiGnux will perform better on their SoC, as always, and offer that choice, or some devices with LiGnux pre installed - almost nobody changes the pre installed OS -.
